Welcome Letter

Welcome Letter

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Ms. Edwards' 4th grade class. I look forward to working with you this school year. I am excited about having your child in my class and I know that he/she will have a successful learning experience.

Your support will have a positive influence on your child's learning. During the year if there is a need to discuss your child's progress or a problem, please feel free write a note, call the school, or email me to schedule an appointment.

I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this school year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone. I will need your help. We both will be working together as partners. I need you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, and help them study for quizzes, if necessary.

You can help your child to have a very successful year by:

  • Making sure your child is well rested and nourished when they arrive at school
  • Making sure your child comes to school with all necessary supplies
  • Making sure your child comes to school everyday
  • Assisting your child with homework and projects

Each student is supplied with a Homework folder. It is their responsibility to record their daily work, homework, and to insert any important forms that must go home. This will allow you the opportunity to check your child's work. Please check their folder daily. Each student will be provided a Reading Log that MUST be signed nightly, so make sure that your child reads each night for at least 20 minutes. Each day that your child does not have their log signed, 20 points will be deducted from their weekly Reading Log grade.

Thank you for your support,

Ms. C. Edwards
