FLOYD ELEMENTARY TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND STUDENTS

THE ALABAMA EDUCATION ASSOCIATION IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE "BE A CHAMPION AND READ CONTEST." THE GOAL OF THE CONTEST IS TO GET YOUR CHILD EXCITED ABOUT READING. THE CHALLENGE IS FOR STUDENTS TO READ EIGHT, READING LEVEL APPROPRIATE BOOKS TO QUALIFY FOR ONE GRAND PRIZE TICKETS TO THE IRON BOWL WITH TWO GUESTS IN EITHER THE ALABAMA OR AUBURN ATHLETIC HOSPITALITY ROOM AND A VISIT TO THE FIELD DURING THE PRE-GAME ACTIVITIES. THERE WILL BE EIGHTH GRADE ALABAMA PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS CAN PARTICIPATE AND WIN. AEA STAFF AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO WIN.

ADDITIONALLY, TWO PARTICIPATING TEACHERS WILL WIN $1,500 FOR THEIR CLASSROOM, AND SCHOOLS WITH AT LEAST 70 PERCENT STUDENT PARTICIPATION WILL BE ENTERED IN A DRAWING TO WIN $5,000 FOR THE SCHOOL LIBRARY. THERE'S ALSO A $250 CASH PRIZE WHICH WILL BE AWARDED TO ONE TEACHER WHO HAS THE BEST DECORATED BULLETIN BOARD, DOOR, OR CLASSROOM PROMOTING THE CONTEST.

TO ENTER YOUR CHILD IN THE CONTEST, CHOOSE EIGHT READING LEVEL APPROPRIATE BOOKS AND ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO READ AT LEAST ONE A WEEK DURING THE EIGHT WEEK CONTEST. COMPLETE THE BOOK LIST ON THE REVERSE SIDE OF THE FORM AND RETURN THE FORM TO YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER. YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER WILL DROP A POSTCARD IN THE MAIL WHEN THE FORM IS RETURNED, WHICH QUALIFIES YOUR CHILD FOR THE DRAWING.

STUDENTS COMPLETING THE CHALLENGE WILL RECEIVE AN AUBURN OR ALABAMA BOOKMARK AND A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION. CONTEST DEADLINE FOR ALL ENTERIES MUST BE TURNED IN TO THE LIBRARY OR TO THE READING COACH BY OCTOBER 31, 2011. NO EXCEPTIONS. ALL QUALIFYING POSTCARDS FROM THE TEACHER, MUST BE POSTMARKED BY NOVEMBER 4, 2011.
